Stories No One Wants to Hear
by Anastasia Taylor-Lind
From the perspective of a female photojournalist, these concise but complex and insightful poems draw on first-hand experience of war to explore how damage is generated and perpetuated.
How to tell a war story in pictures – always photograph wounded soldiers, frightened civilians, mourning relatives, the aftermath of shelling, food queues, the bus station, daily life continuing as normal. Wait outside the emergency department for casualties, look for fresh graves at the cemetery, drive to the frontline and see what happens.
