The aim of this workshop is to explore the creative possibilities that arise from the combination of photography, writing and design.

Carlos Spottorno will share and analyse with the participants the skills developed throughout his extensive career as a photojournalist, filmmaker, advertising creative and author of photobooks and comics.

During the workshop Carlos will accompany the participants in the task of turning their own photographic projects into photoliterary creations. Whether individually or as a group, the students will be able to decide whether they want to produce a creation themselves from scratch or on the basis of their own pre-existing projects.

We will challenge the concept of the picture book and take up the challenge of writing with images and illustrating with words.

Whether it's a photoliterary poem, a comic, a braided double narrative, a poster, or an Instagram story: the starting point is that we want to tell something. The journey is how we tell it and the destination is how others receive it.

Sometimes we know what we want to tell. Sometimes we just know how we feel. In any case, some photographers feel that we lack the tools of expression. But we don't really lack them: we just don't dare to use them. Sometimes out of habit, sometimes out of embarrassment or simply because we don't know where to start.

In this workshop you will learn how to change your habits, to lose your modesty and to have a method to start with.
